Tulsa's Best Restaurants

Doc's Wine & Food is one of our favorite spots to eat, drink, and people watch on their front patio overlooking Brookside. While everything on the menu is delicious, Doc's specializes in cajun and creole food and also has the best oysters in town (try them char grilled!). We recommend going for a Sunday brunch and don't forget to order their mimosas (crafted perfectly right).

Sonoma, as the name might indicate, recreates culinary dishes from Northern Californian and offers a rather extensive wine menu. This place is great for any occasion – a casual lunch, a romantic dinner, or a glass of wine at their bar. You have multiple seating options as there's a front patio, indoor dining, bar, or the back patio for a more intimate setting.

Enjoy brunch or dinner in this Utica Square gem in its art-filled dining room or outdoor patio! You can't go wrong with this place – the red walls create such a warm and inviting environment and the outdoor patio is a dream on a sunny day. It gets even better with their tasty menu with dishes such as the Sesame Crusted Salmon or Red Cornmeal Crusted Chicken.

Stonehorse Cafe is another gem in Utica Square. It embodies a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere and features eclectic cuisine, from French fare to pizza, and even has a gourmet market and "afternoon tea" time. Sit on the front patio where you are surrounded by greenery, giving it a jungle-esque vibe.

McGill's is a locally owned chain with three locations (our favorite being the 21st Street location). They strive for elegance in a relaxed environment and pretty much nail it. The food never disappoints whether you go for steak, seafood, or pasta. We recommend going for the McGill's Signature Dish – the Pasta Lobster with lobster and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Mmmmm!

Palace Cafe is a stylish space offering an inventive Creole-inspired seafood menu with locally sourced ingredients. Great brunch and dinner menu featuring dishes such as the Butternut Squash soup or the SearedSea Scallops. We also approve of their magnificent and elaborate wine menu for you winos out there!

"The restaurant and bar has an understated swankiness to it.  It’s an upscale pub atmosphere that is completely lacking in pretension. SMOKE isn’t just the name on the sign out on the street, it’s a concept that permeates this restaurant from the overall experience to the subtleties and nuances of flavors in each and every dish.  The adjacent cigar room and humidor does much to add to the dining and drinking experience as well. The fall/ winter menu did not disappoint with entrée options such as Pickled Brined Fried Quail, Crispy Duck Confit, Lamb Bolognese and Pork Tenderloin." Source: Nicci Atchley, TulsaFood.com

This old-fashioned, family-owned restaurant has been serving the same thing for over 25 years: unassuming, delicious Italian food. This is the perfect date spot for those who want a casual and cozy atmosphere.

The Tavern is a modern interpretation of the classic neighborhood pub. Chef Ben Alexander’s pub-inspired cuisine represents only the best in local and seasonal ingredients. This laid-back yet refined taproom offers a well-curated list of artisanal beer, world-class wine and creative cocktails. Great atmosphere for a date night.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Tulsa's Deco District, you'll find the very best handmade pasta in town at Tavolo Restaurant, Caffe & Market. Tavolo is an award-winning bistro serving up authentic Italian Cuisine as well as new interpretations of some of your favorite classics. Adjacent to the bistro, you can find Tavolo Caffè & Market, featuring their Topeca espresso bar. Enjoy a variety of fresh baked pastries made daily by our talented chefs.

In the building of an old bank, The Vault transports you back to the 1950's with retro yet modern decor. There's a whole Mad Men vibe to it. The downstairs seating area is bright and open with tall vaulted ceilings windows. Climb the spiral staircase to the Tom Tom Room located on the second floor. I prefer this smaller seating area for a cozier, more intimate setting, surrounded by windows and with its own bar. The outdoor patio on the second floor is even better if you are lucky enough to be there on a warm and sunny day. Furthermore, the menu is excellent! Healthy, tasty, and creative options. Craft beer and crafty cocktails. I order the Special of the Day every time I come here and have yet to be disappointed.

If you're looking for a more casual atmosphere, check out Elote Cafe located in downtown Tulsa. This Mexican joint is famous for their delicious "puffy tacos" which are only $2 on Wednesday nights. All meats are organically grain fed and sourced from local farmers. Each week discounted tequila is available for tasting and once you have sampled 30 tequilas, you will get your name and your very own Luchador name on the wall. Ask their bartenders for more details.

This downtown establishment provides an upscale ambiance without trying too hard for a lunch or dinner date. Juniper is another hyper-local farm-to-table restaurant providing a particular blend of authentically local foods- while also outsourcing important ingredients on an as-needed basis.

Formerly known as Trula's Bar & Bistro, The Boiler Room is an upscale restaurant nestled inside the magnificent Mayo Hotel. The Mayo Hotel is so aesthetically pleasing  – enter the hotel to find a grandiose staircase that's right out of the movie Titanic, then catch a glimpse of a wedding taking place in the Grand Hall. There's many "date spots" to choose from in this boutique hotel – dine in The Boiler Room, get a caffeine buzz from Topeca Coffee, or sip a cocktail from The Penthouse rooftop lounge. All beautiful in their own grandeur.

Another favorite restaurant nestled inside a boutique hotel is The Chalkboard. The carefully crafted menu is specifically designed around the four seasons and ingredients are locally sourced. The atmosphere consists of sophistication without the pretension, making it a great spot for a date night.

These guys do it right, from the open layout, to the corked walls to keep noise levels down, to the emphasis on fresh ingredients. The food menu boasts Italian, Mediterranean and California influences, and house-made gelato by the in-house pastry chef who makes all desserts from scratch.  The wine menu is just as impressive with 60 wines to choose from, including eight (four reds, four whites) on tap with labels such as Hess, Liberty School, Simi and Mark West. We love these guys so much that we recently added them to our list of Tulsa Partner Restaurants!
